Art & Anthropology Exhibit & Competition

Letters fill by mosaic.

As we celebrate Anthropology Week, we want to celebrate our student’s creativity and talents by hosting the first Art and Anthropology Exhibit and competition. The Anthropology department invites UNLV students (undergraduate and graduate) who have taken a class in the anthropology department to look back to their classes, discussions, and debates and to submit original artwork showcasing the diverse aspects of Anthropology in any of its four fields: cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology.

The artworks should showcase the connections between anthropology and the different artistic expressions students want to explore. We encourage participants to think creatively and use various mediums to express their interpretations of anthropology:

  • Photography
  • Drawing and Painting
  • Sculpture* and Mixed Media**

The selected artworks will be displayed in a dedicated exhibit at the UNLV campus during Anthropology Week, allowing the community to appreciate and engage with the rich tapestry of anthropological knowledge. This contest provides a unique opportunity for artists to contribute their perspectives to the field of anthropology and inspire conversations about the human experience.
